    Spring 2017

Classes begin for the Spring: January 8th – May 27th 2017

You have the opportunity to put together your individual course

The course is divided in 3 periods (terms), were you choose between different subjects. The idea is that you will get the opportunity to think across subjects, theoretical and practical and there by test your expectations, ideas and possibilities in a professional and multidisciplinary environment. The Folk Art School in Holbæk is a place, which creates and demands space for thoughts to move freely and creatively. It is our belief, that each student in an environment such as this will be able to get better skills, together with the sense of flexibility and ambiguity. Here you get the best possibilities to enhance or create a network of committed and art-loving people, which play an active role in the Danish cultural life.

By clicking on each period below you can get a view on which subjects we offer (subject to alterations and errors).

    Teachers and lectures

The school has a wide network of teachers with professional backgrounds as practicing visual artists, authors, musicians, architects, designers, and in close interaction with invited guest teachers from Denmark and abroad they nourish the dynamic environment in the school by exchanging ideas, thoughts about teaching so the best possible environment for leaning about artistic work is created. The school also invites some of the important contemporary artists of today, to tell about their practice and their projects. This way you can get an insight of their work and methods in many different artistic disciplines.

    Study Trip

A short, obligatory study trip to Berlin is included within the 18 week course. A group trip to Berlin – not to relax but to take a breath of fresh air. After a few weeks at the Kunsthøjskolen with workshops, theory, lectures, desires, ideas, frustrations and more or less normal co-existence the study trip to Berlin offers a welcome interruption. Four days to see or experience things which one has only read about, or not even imagined. Since the programme is a part of the current course it is naturally different each time.

    Fees

Autumn (18 weeks): DKK 27.000 / Spring (20 weeks): DKK 30.000 – plus DKK 1600 study trip to Berlin + possible extra charge for a single room with or without a shower, and a double room with a shower. We withhold the right to price alterations,

    And what for?

The price of the course covers tuition (5 hours a day, Monday to Friday), lectures, events, food and accomodation. The costs of materials varies individually. Each student is responsible for their own material costs, which are not included in the price of the course.

    How do you pay?

The cost of the course is payed in four installments of which 2/5 of the total amount is payed on arrival. In the acceptance letter from the Kunsthøjskolen an application fee of DKK 1000,- will be charged. This amount with a deduction of DKK 400,- in administration charges, will be at the student’s disposal for costs of materials during the course. Due to the ruels for visa foreign students with permanent address abroad the EU have to pay all school fees in advance.

If you break off your stay at Kunsthøjskolen, you will have to pay fees for a period of 4 weeks from the day you leave the school or to the end of the course. You will also lose your deposit. If the school has paid for your participation at the study trip when you leave the school, you must cover the expenses that the school has had in this connection.
